Ballack - I was right to snub Real

BAYERN MUNICH midfielder Michael Ballack has revealed he is happy that he turned down the chance to join Real Madrid in favour of moving to the Olympic Stadium.

Real were keen on signing the German international from Bayer Leverkusen last summer before the goalscoring midfielder plumped for Bayern.

Ballack believes he made the right decision in rejecting Real's overtures to join Bayern and hopes to beat them next season in the Champions League.

"I could have gone there, but I decided to come to the right club," Ballack, told German daily Bild.

"It's more fun to beat these superstars than it is to play with them."

Ballack is also adamant that Bayer will not suffer the humiliation of crashing out of the Champions League at the first stage after their failure last season.

"That's not going to happen again," added Ballack.

"There are some teams at the same level as us. But there are no sides that are better than us."
