Sky Blues not keen on Roberts
The 28-year-old was released by Charlton at the end of last season after spending three years with The Addicks, and is still looking for a new club following his departure from the Sky Blues' training sessions.
Roberts began his career at Middlesbrough, signing as a trainee in 1993 but after making just 26 appearances in seven years, he joined Alan Curbishley's side in 2000.
During his time at The Riverside, he spent time on loan at Hartlepool, Wycombe, Bradford, Millwall and Luton but was never able to establish himself as Boro's number one.
He is best remembered in the North East for conceding the fastest ever FA Cup final goal, as Roberto Di Matteo's fierce drive after 43 seconds in 1997 flashed past his outstretched arms and into the back of the net, sending Chelsea on their way to a 2-0 victory.
Following his switch to Charlton, Roberts was loaned to Reading, Luton and Brighton - his time on the South Coast being cut short by a bout of gastric 'flu.
Ipswich Town manager Joe Royle was reportedly also interested in the player, but following Coventry's decision not to pursue their interest, Roberts finds himself in the same position as a number of players - still looking for a place to play next season.
