Chivu delight at Roma switch
CRISTIAN CHIVU is delighted to have joined Serie A giants Roma, and says that it was a whirlwind arrival from Dutch side Ajax.
The Roman side have agreed an é¼18 million fee with Ajax for their skipper and the talented defender is now in the Italian capital to sign his new contract.
"I'm in Rome, in the Sensi hotel, Cicerone. I have just arrived from Amsterdam," he told planetfootball.com.
"The two clubs arrived at a conclusion, so now I have to sign the contract."
The Romanian captain says that he knew about the deal on Tuesday morning, and had arrived in Rome on Wednesday as the move progressed at top speed.
"Yesterday, I knew about it from the beginning of the day. The morning training seemed very strange to me.
"The last day was very emotional. After training I had to say bye to all the players, the managers, and all the people from the club.
"Frankly, I had to do it all in a hurry, so I don't remember it very well, but I will be back in Amsterdam and I will say hello to them with ease."
Chivu is relishing the chance to play at Stadio Olimpico and just hopes to play as well in Italy as he did in Holland for Ajax.
"I just hope that with the Roma shirt I could play as good as I did with the Ajax shirt."
