Di Biagio wants Inter stay

EXCLUSIVE
LUIGI DI BIAGIO is determined to stay at Internazionale despite reports linking him with a move to Chelsea.

The Italian international held talks Inter boss Hector Cuper earlier this week to discuss his future with some sources suggesting he could be on his way out the Giuseppe Meazza.

Reports in Italy had indicated that a number of English clubs including Chelsea were monitoring his situation, but the player's agent Dario Canvoi insists he has no plans to quit Inter.

"I have not opened talks with Chelsea or any other club, because Luigi is still an Inter player," Canovi told Planetfootball.com.

"The club have not contacted me to tell me he must find another destination. Due to this reason, I am not aware of other clubs interested in him."

Di Biago's future at Inter had been put in doubt after the summer arrivals of Sabri Lamouchi and Giorgios Karagounis, but Canovi insists his client is ready to fight for his place in the side.

"If you look at his history, Luigi never featured in the starting eleven during the pre-season," added Canovi. "He has always conquered his place in the team working very hard.

"All he wants is to have the same chances as his team-mates, but he's ready to sit on the bench or in the stand should he not deserve to play.

"He wants to stay at San Siro until the end of his career."

Canovi also dismissed rumours that Di Biagio was paying for the fact that he and team-mate Christian Vieri left Inter's training ground on one occasion last season without the permission of Cuper, claiming it was too hot.

As a result, both men were left out of the next match, but Canovi believes there is no knock-on effect for Di Biagio.

"I don't think there's a disciplinary reason behind this decision," said Canovi. "Luigi is one of the most disciplined guys I have ever dealt with, on and off the field.

"After that thing happened, Luigi played as a regular for the remainder of the season, even when he wasn't perfectly well."
