Burnley given hope over Stewart

BURNLEY'S hopes of signing Manchester United midfielder Michael Stewart are not dead according to the player's agent.

It seemed Burnley's hopes of landing the Scottish starlet were doomed after he decided to join Nottingham Forest on their pre-season trip to France, but Stewart's representative George Wright insists he could still make the move to Turf Moor.

"Michael has always been open about his intentions to talk to everyone and told Stan Ternent face to face he would talk to other interested parties," Wright told the Burnley Express.

"Mr Ternent, to his credit, said he should do this and that could work in his favour. That will sell the club as much as anything.

"Sir Alex Ferguson believes his players will be brought on at Burnley. He wouldn't just throw them anywhere."

Ternent would like to take Stewart on a season-long loan like fellow United star Luke Chadwick.
