Van der Gouw for City

DUTCH keeper Raimond van der Gouw has joined Stoke City on trial.

The veteran shot-stopper has a wealth of experience after being deputy to Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel during some of the most successful times in the Old Trafford club's history.

After leaving United, van der Gouw headed for West Ham in 2002, but he was unable to dislodge David James at Upton Park, and Glenn Roeder released him following the East Londoners' relegation to the Nationwide League.

Stoke have also been keen on the 36-year-old's fellow countryman Ed De Goey, as they look to introduce a new, experienced number one to their squad.
