Stam's Lazio pledge

The Dutch defender has continually been linked with the Stadio Olimpico exit door, with Milan said to be monitoring the situation in Rome with interest.

Lazio have maintained that they will keep Stam unless a major offer is tabled, and the player`s assertion that he will not move on will please the Roman club`s faithful.

Stam said: "I`m a Lazio player and I feel myself like a Lazio player."

The towering defender is looking for all the transfer speculation to stop after he turns out for Lazio in a Champions League qualifier with Benfica.

He added on the club`s website: "In a few days all the rumours will stop because on August 12 we will start playing and we know that players who play in the Champions League preliminaries can't play in European competition with another club.

"I am happy that the club value me and I feel good in this team."
