Shrimps hit Wolves for six

The Shrimps found themselves 3-0 up after just 17 minutes against Wolves, who included the likes of Oleg Luzhny, Denis Irwin, Paul Ince, Colin Cameron and Alex Rae.

Wayne Curtis put Morecambe ahead after four minutes and they doubled their advantage nine minutes later through Adriano Rigoglioso, before Dean Howell made it 3-0.

Curtis was on hand to make it 4-0 just before the interval.

Keith Andrews finally gave Wolves some cheer with a strike after 68 minutes, but further efforts from Danny Carleton and Lee Dodgeson compounded a miserable day and performance from Dave Jones's men.

Elsewhere, Fulham gave Roma an excellent run for their money in their friendly clash at the Franz Fekete Kapfenberg, but lost after a last-gasp Davide Bombardini goal nicked a 2-1 win for the Italians.

The Giallorossi took the lead 26 minutes in when Francesco Totti's long ball found Antonio Cassano who chipped Edwin Van der Sar.

Roma's lead lasted just minutes as French striker Louis Saha crashed in a spectacular 25-yard effort to draw The Cottagers level.
