Stringer to miss start of the season
SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY goalkeeper Chris Stringer is set to miss the start of the new season through injury.
The young shot-stopper is still struggling to recover from surgery on both his calves and Owls boss Chris Turner does not expect him to be back in action for several more months.
"Chris is still having a problem with one of his calves so he's going for a scan," Turner told the Sheffield Star.
"He's certainly got to be a big doubt for the start of the season. He hasn't really done any running yet, and it could be October or November before he is fit."
Stringer's injury leaves veteran Kevin Pressman and new signing Ola Tidman battling it out for the number one jersey for the start of the season.
