Cruz Azul capture Delgado
CRUZ AZUL have signed Argentine striker Cesar Delgado from Rosario Central, but played down hope of landing Barcelona ace Juan Roman Riquelme.
The Mexican outfit were believed to be leading the chase for Riquelme, who has fallen out-of-favour at Camp Nou, but they cannot afford a deal for the Argentine star.
Delgado revealed he had the chance to move to Italy before opting for Cruz Azul.
"There was a chance to play in Italy, but Cruz Azul insisted on me from the beginning," said Delgado.
"I hope I can repay their trust with my football."
The 22-year-old will join up with fellow Argentines Marcelo Delgado and Daniel Diaz at Cruz Azul.
