Denilson nears return
Denilson has been sidelined since undergoing an operation on his knee at the end of March after being plagued by the problem since last summer's World Cup.
The Brazilian trickster has been steadily building himself up towards donning a Betis shirt again before the start of the new Liga campaign.
A comeback in the Ramon de Carranza pre-season tournament in the middle of August has been pencilled in for Denilson, who occasionally feels the effects of his injury in training.
"I find myself well, although somewhat sore in the tendon area when I finish the work but without pain in the operated zone," said Denilson.
"The coach (Victor Fernandez), Carmelo del Pozo (fitness coach) and I have determined that I am not going to play any pre-season games until the Ramon de Carranza trophy (August 14-16)."
Denilson has been taking part in two training sessions per day and is optimistic of attaining peak fitness by the time the curtain is raised on the new campaign.
He added: "In the morning, I train specifically with Carmel del Pozo and in the afternoon with all the group.
"I trust that I will reach full fitness during pre-season so I can begin the campaign with normality."
