Monaco beat Saints to Adebayor
MONACO have beaten Southampton to the signing of highly-rated Metz striker Emmanuel Adebayor.
The 19-year-old was close to a move to Southampton last week after holding talks, but the move fell through at the last minute after both clubs could not agree a deal.
Monaco stepped in and have landed the temperamental striker in a ‚é¼3 million deal with the player signing a five-year contract at Stade Louis II.
Adebayor confirmed the deal and admitted he is ready for action.
"The talks are over and I signed a five-year contract," said Adebayor.
"I will be at Metz on Friday to settle some different problems, and I will come back to Monaco on Saturday to be at the disposal of Didier Deschamps."
Adebayor will provide cover for the injured Dado Prso and is seen a major star for the future.
