PSG finalise Yakin deal

PARIS SAINT GERMAIN have completed the signing of Swiss star Hakan Yakin from Basel.

Yakin has signed a four-year deal at the Parc Des Princes after agreeing personal terms and passing a medical.

The 26-year-old attracted a great deal of interest after impressing in last season's Champions League with Basel.

PSG coach Vahid Halilhodzic revealed that Yakin would not feature in the opening game of the season against Bastia on Saturday.

"He is not in the list of players out of respect to the group," said Halilhodzic.

"It would not be fair to select a player who has just arrived."

Halilhodzic is a big fan of Yakin but admitted he still feels he can improve as a player.

"He does not have the speed to play on the wing. He is not Ben Johnson either, speed-wise," added Halilhodzic.

"He plays in the centre and he has a useful technical quality.

"Physically he is no monster, but he has many qualities to play elsewhere."
