Imps to honour Liburd deal
The 29-year-old, who was released by Second Division outfit Notts County at last season's end, went off early in the second half of the 1-0 victory over The Valiants with a knee injury.
Liburd is due to visit the doctor on Monday to assess the severity of his knee, with the setback coming only days after he agreed a deal with The Red Imps.
The midfielder was due to have a medical before putting pen-to-paper on his 12-month deal at Sincil Bank but his knee injury cast doubt over the chances of him signing the agreed contract.
However, Alexander insists he will honour the deal he agreed with Liburd and promises to take care of the player.
"The lad came to play for us and got injured playing for us so we've got to look after him," Alexander told the club's official website.
"We want Richard to sign, he'd agreed the contract and I shall honour that."
Lincoln have been dealt another blow with the news that winger Chris Cornelly will be out for a number of weeks after tearing cartilage in his knee in training last week.
The 27-year-old, who signed a one-year contract in May with the club following his move in December from non-league Ashton United, injured his knee in an innocuous training ground accident and is due to undergo surgery on Monday.
The injury has delayed Cornelly's aspirations of debuting as a full-time professional footballer with the Third Division side.
