Gers seal Berg deal

RANGERS have completed the signing of Norwegian defender Henning Berg on a one-year contract.

The former Manchester United stopper was a free agent after being released by Blackburn Rovers at the end of last season.

Ironically he will plug the hole caused in the heart of The Gers' backline by Lorenzo Amoruso's departure to Ewood Park.

Berg will now step up his fitness regime in a bid to be fit for the club's crucial Champions League qualifier against FC Copenhagen next week.

Rangers director of football business expressed his delight at the capture of the 34-year-old.

"We're delighted to have reached an agreement with Henning Berg and I know Alex (McLeish) is looking forward to working with him," said Bain.

"The medical went smoothly and all of the paperwork was completed, and now Henning is just desperate to get going in his new surroundings."
