Savage okay with Dunn
Rumours were rife that the combative pair did not get on when England international Dunn ousted the Welshman from penalty kick duties during a pre-season game at Burton Albion.
Former Leicester City man Savage further fuelled the fire when he reacted to Everton's interest in him by saying he would love to join David Moyes's men but now the ex-Crewe star says he is ready to battle for a central midfield berth alongside the former Blackburn Rovers man.
"A lot has been said about Dunny playing in central midfield here and I know that's where he's happiest," said Savage.
"If the gaffer plays Dunny in the middle, then it means either me or Stephen Clemence might have to miss out.
"Our partnership was fantastic last season, but if you want to move on as a squad and get better, you expect quality players to come in and increase competition for places."
Speaking on the penalty duties, Savage added: "The game at Burton was Dunny's first and he wanted to make an impression.
"He took the ball and scored. He made an impact and it was understandable he wanted to show what he could do.
"No doubt about it though, I'll be taking the penalties when the season gets going."
