Inter fail with Maxwell bid
Inter were hugely impressed by the left-sided ace during last weekend's Amsterdam Tournament as Ajax beat the Italians 3-0.
Nerazzurri coach Hector Cuper was stirred by Maxwell's display in the Amsterdam ArenA and set the wheels in motion to lure the 21-year-old to Giuseppe Meazza.
Andy van der Meyde has already quit Ajax for Inter during the summer and the Serie A club submitted a é¼7 million bid to snare Maxwell.
But Ajax are reluctant to lose any more key players and swiftly knocked back Inter's offer, stating they will not sell the Samba star.
"We don't want to lose anyone, anymore, and you won't be surprised to see us say no to an even bigger transfer sum," Ajax president Arie van Eijden told VI.
Maxwell has 12 months remaining on his current contract but Ajax are under no pressure to sell as they can exercise their option to extend the midfielder's deal by a further two years.
