Campbell hamstrung for first month

EVERTON striker Kevin Campbell has been ruled out of the first month of the new season after suffering a hamstring injury in Sunday's match against Bologna at Goodison Park.

The 33-year-old limped out of Colin Harvey's testimonial match against the Italian side after just 11 minutes, and will now miss The Toffees' opening Premiership fixture against Arsenal on Saturday, with the prospect that he could be sidelined for up to four weeks.

The injury leaves Everton boss David Moyes light in the striking department, as Wayne Rooney is currently recovering from injury and Duncan Ferguson is suspended.

Campbell has been ruled out after having a scan on his damaged hamstring on Monday morning in Manchester.

Nick Chadwick replaced the former Arsenal hit-man during the Bologna fixture, and it could present the Goodison youngster with a chance to make his mark in The Premiership.
