Mutu Chelsea bound

EXCLUSIVE
ADRIAN MUTU will join Chelsea in a deal worth around £15 million, planetfootball.com can reveal.

The Romanian international is considered one of the best up-and-coming players in Italy, and has quickly established himself as a forward to be feared.

"In a short time there will be an official statement made by Parma that will solve the doubts about this matter," the player's agent Andrea Pretti exclusively told planetfootball.

"In just a few days this deal has been done - it has been an essential and coherent negotiation.

"I expect the news to be confirmed by Parma, but I can say that Mutu will play for Chelsea.

"I can state that the deal is done. I absolutely confirm this."

Although not yet the finished article, Chelsea's new-found wealth, following Roman Abramovich's purchase of the club has given them the money to speculate.

Mutu will probably be handed the vacant number seven shirt at Chelsea, but will not be eligible to play in the club's Champions League qualifier against Zilina, having to wait to see if the club reach the competition proper.

Barring unforseen last hitches, Mutu will be unveiled at the club in the coming week, joining the likes of Juan Sebastian Veron, Joe Cole, Geremi, Damien Duff, Glen Johnson, and Wayne Bridge in the stellar new Chelsea squad.
