Mutu was determined to join Chelsea

PARMA'S sporting director Doriano Tosi has revealed that they accepted Chelsea's bid for Adrian Mutu because the player was determined to move to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have clinched the signature of the 24-year-old Romanian international striker, who only has to wait for the formality of a work permit to begin his Chelsea career.

Tosi said: "The negotiations have been quick. As we had already refused Lazio and Chelsea's offers we were about to do the same this time but Adrian changed the thinking.

"The player has been determined in his choice of club. He took part in the conclusions to the negotiations and we considered this too."

Parma had always said that they wanted to keep Mutu but would consider letting him go if the right offer came in and he wanted to leave the club.

Both those conditions were met with the offer from Chelsea and Tosi was happy that both parties came out of the deal smiling.

"We thank Mutu for what he made for us. Despite everything we have to be grateful towards this player that has given us a lot.

"It has not to be forgotten that what happened with Adrian is included in Parma's plans - that is to find young and talented players and sell them for a profit."
