Kleberson gets work permit

There has been doubts as to whether the Atletico Paranaense midfielder would meet Home Office criteria, but he has and will now seal his move to Old Trafford in the next 48 hours.

The 24-year-old flew into England last month to undergo a medical and open talks - but he has been waiting to hear whether he would qualify for a move to The Premiership.

The player, who is believed to be in Manchester already, is now ready to put pen-to-paper on his contract.

Kleberson could even be involved in United's midweek friendly at Stoke City, if he manages to seal his move on Tuesday.

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson attended the permit hearing, which will have no doubt helped convince the authorities that the World Cup winner was eligible for a UK work permit.

With the departures of David Beckham and Juan Sebastian Veron this summer, the arrival of Kleberson was seen as vital to help bolster United's squad for the coming season.
