Egil to bide his time

EGIL OSTENSTAD is unfazed by his starting chances at Blackburn Rovers this season, despite starting as fourth choice.

The former Southampton man is behind Andy Cole, Dwight Yorke and Matt Jansen for a place up front, but is happy to bide his time.

"These things happen all the time. I almost except that there will be a new striker here as well," he said to Haugesund Avis.

"We have a small squad and need to strengthen in each part of the team.

"In our last pre-season game Cole was injured. As it seems now Yorke and Jansen will start up front."

The Norwegian is expected to return home at the end of the season, when his contract expires, to join Viking.

"I've got nine months yet on my contract," he added.

"The season is almost over in Norway and there would had been no point to travel home to play now."
