Cosmi not counting his chickens

PERUGIA coach Serse Cosmi feels his side will have to be at their best if they are to be successful in the second leg of their InterToto Cup final against Wolfsburg.

Former Coventry striker Jay Bothroyd (pictured) scored the goal that gave the Italians a 1-0 first-leg victory over the Germans side on Wednesday evening, but Cosmi believes the tie is far from over.

He said: "To obtain Uefa qualification in the second leg we will need to be at our best. At the moment the first-half has just ended and we are waiting to play the second one."

It was not all good news for Perugia or Bothroyd, who will miss the second leg after picking up his second yellow card of the tournament on Wednesday.

Perugia president Luciano Gaucci was happy with the result but would have liked two goals in the first leg to calm his nerves during the second leg.

"We are still unbeaten," he said. "Now we can play this final starting from the 1-0 result and it's really a good thing.

"We must score another time and with a little more courage we could do it."
