Charlton launch Zenden bid

BOUDEWIJN ZENDEN'S agent has confirmed that Charlton Athletic have made a bid to land him.

The Addicks have reportedly lodged a loan bid with Chelsea and are looking to take him for the whole of the coming season.

The Dutch star is desperate for first-team football to protect his place in his country's international squad and now a number of clubs are monitoring his situation.

Zenden seem to be very much on the fringe of Chelsea's squad after summer arrivals of left sided stars Wayne Bridge and Damien Duff.

German side Hamburg have joined the likes of Internazionale and Lazio in expressing an interest in the player, while Dutch giants Ajax and PSV Eindhoven are also very much in the race to land him.

Zenden's agent Chiel Dekker has confirmed that his client is looking to leave Stamford Bridge.

"Boudewijn would like to go to a club who is playing for the prizes and who also plays in a European competition," he told Voetbal international.

Dekker then confirmed Charlton's interest, but admitted that was not first choice for Zenden and he would prefer to move back to Holland with Ajax or PSV.

"Charlton Athletic would like to get him on loan as soon as possible, however we have set that on hold," he said.

"The interest from Ajax and PSV is more interesting."
