QPR closing in on new signings

QUEENS PARK RANGERS have confirmed that talks with Everton winger Kevin McLeod over a permanent move to Loftus Road are at an advanced stage.

The 22-year-old has expressed his desire to return to the Division Two club following a successful loan spell with Ian Holloway's men last season.

Both QPR and Everton were in discussions over a fee for McLeod last week, with representatives for the midfielder in negotiations over personal terms.

Talks with all parties are understood to be coming close to a satisfactory conclusion, with McLeod set to join the Second Division title favourites.

Meanwhile, Holloway has continued his search for another midfielder following the departure of Richard Langley to Cardiff City on Friday.

The former Bristol Rovers boss admitted to being in talks with five clubs about bringing in a new midfield man and confirmed that he has contacted Premiership new boys Portsmouth about the availability of Mark Burchill.

"We have spoken to Portsmouth about Mark and asked about his availability," Holloway told the club's official website.

"At the moment we are waiting to hear back from them.

"We have made other offers and I am hoping to have some answers soon.

"We've got five players in mind at the moment and we will have to see where this leads us.

"But the bottom line is that I'm after a centre forward and a left-sided player and selling Richard Langley will hopefully have given us the opportunity to make these two signings."

In other news, board director Lyndon Fuller has stepped down from his post at the club, citing work and personal issues as his reasons for leaving.
