Makelele still wants transfer talks

REAL MADRID star Claude Makelele has stated that he will return to training, but insists he wants the club to listen to any offers for him.

The French midfielder missed training with Real last week, stating he was ill - he produced a medical certificate which was confirmed by the Spanish giants medical team.

They instructed him to rest and abide by their own training plan, but instead the former Celta Vigo player joined up with his national team against their instructions.

He could even play against Switzerland on Wednesday, but he played down any row stating he would be back in Spain on Thursday to begin training.

"Since I have been with the French side, I feel at ease with myself," he told L'Equipe.

"I have had a little training and I am going to be back on Thursday and I will be able to train with my club.

"I never wanted to put pressure on Madrid.

"The seven days I did not train, was only because I didn't feel well.

"I repeat that I have never refused to go to Ciudad Deportiva [Madrid's training ground] as part of some sort of strategy or in anyway to get away.

"I feel good at the moment with Les Bleus, however I still want the same things.

"That means I want the Madrid officials to study the offer made by other clubs about my transfer.

"I will continue to work as normal, as of course I respect Real Madrid - I believe I have showed exemplary behaviour inside the club and I only want to say that there are a lot of lies about me at the moment."

Sources are suggesting that Real supremo Florentino Perez will meet with his Chelsea counterpart Roman Abramovich in the next few days to try and broker a deal.

However, Real are considering bowing to Makelele's demands and giving him a new contract after his team-mates such as Zinedine Zidane stated how much they would loath to lose him.
