Brazil name qualifying squad

BRAZIL have named their squad for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers against Colombia and Ecuador.

Arsenal's Gilberto Silva and Kleberson of Manchester United have both been called up after being rested previously, but again there is no place for Middlesbrough's Juninho.

Coach Carlos Alberto Parreira has named a 17-man party for the game, which has a very familiar look to it.

He will add a further five Brazilian based players after the latest round of championship games.

"I do not need surprises, these are distinguished players," said Parreira.

Brazil will meet up on September 2, before facing Colombia five days later and then Ecuador on the 10th.

Squad in full: Dida (Milan), Cafu (Milan), Belletti (Villarreal), Roberto Carlos (Real Madrid), Junior (Parma), Lucio (Bayer Leverkusen), Edmilson (Lyon), Roque Junior (Milan), Juan (Bayer Leverkusen), Gilberto Silva (Arsenal), Kleberson (Manchester United), Kaka (Milan), Ze Roberto (Bayern Munique), Emerson (Roma), Rivaldo (Milan), Ronaldo (Real Madrid), Ronaldinho (Barcelona)
