Moyes confirms Baz interest

DAVID MOYES has admitted an interest in Rangers midfielder Barry Ferguson, confirming reports which suggested Everton were set to rival Blackburn in the race to sign the Scot.

Ferguson is looking to secure a move to The Premiership after handing in a transfer request, and Rovers confirmed their interest last week.

Rangers confirmed a second approach had been made over the weekend, and Moyes has now revealed his side have had a long-standing interest in the Ibrox club`s skipper.

A deal for Sean Davis has not yet been sealed, and Moyes may push on for Ferguson if he fails to thrash out a move for the Fulham man.

Commenting on the interest in Ferguson, he said: "He is a player I have long admired and we are interested in him."

Moyes, though, believes he could be beaten to the punch in the race to sign Ferguson.

He added: "I am trying my utmost to get some new faces in this week before the deadline, and I am trying to do as much as I can.

"Barry Ferguson is not just a flyer, we have got an interest in him and I have done for months and months, and he's another name who I would love to have here.

"Potentially I am not sure that we have the finances that Rangers are after."
