Schalke confirm Morientes talks
The Spain international has been relegated to a peripheral role at Real since the arrival of Ronaldo last summer, and his Madrid side could be ready to let him leave.
Morientes has emerged as a key target for Schalke, who confirmed on Monday that they were in talks to snap up the marksman.
"A delegation from Schalke is in Madrid to chat with gentlemen from Real," stated Schalke boss Jupp Heynckes who coached the player whilst at Real in 1997.
Heynckes has described the 27-year-old as his favourite player, and would love to add the forward to his squad.
Schalke may face competition from Italy, where Internazionale have been linked with a move for the player after selling Hernan Crespo to Chelsea.
