Pinilla aiming to please Chievo

FORMER Universidad de Chile player Mauricio Pinilla says he is keen to repay the faith shown in him by Italian side Chievo and get back to the goal scoring form he showed in his homeland.

The striker is half owned by Serie A rivals Internazionale, whom he will link up with next term but the Chilean says he wants to show The Flying Donkeys his capabilities, but needs coach Luigi Del Neri to show confidence in him first.

"I haven't played very much and I want to have more chances to show who I am and that Chievo have made the correct decision in having me in the squad," said the South American.

"I know that it's not easy in Italy to win yourself a place in the team at once because there are many good players but when I am in good condition it's very hard to stop me and I want to show that."

About his recent sending off in Chievo's pre-season match against Spanish side Real Zaragoza, the striker tried to clear himself of any wrongdoing, saying mixed translation was to blame.

"I claimed for a foul against a player on our team, I did it in Italian but the referee didn't understand me and so he sent me off," claimed Pinilla.
