Van Persie injury woe

FEYENOORD starlet Robin Van Persie could be sidelined for a month after injuring his ankle in training.

Van Persie twisted the joint during a training session on Tuesday afternoon and is awaiting the outcome of tests to determine the extent of the problem.

The 20-year-old's ankle is currently swollen and the Feyenoord medical staff are waiting for the injury to settle down before delivering their verdict.

Early indications are Van Persie has damaged the muscles in the joint but the De Kuip doctors are not rushing into a diagnosis.

"How bad the damage is will only be able to be seen when the ankle is less swollen," said club doctor Robbart van Linschoten.

Van Persie is expected to be out of action for between two and four weeks and the youngster is disheartened by the injury.

He said: "This is very bad, although the worst pain is over now."
