Seagulls swoop for Fulham youngster

BRIGHTON have brought in Fulham youngster Ross Flitney as cover for keeper Ben Roberts, while Michel Kuipers has joined Hull on a month-long loan deal.

The 19-year-old is fourth choice at Loftus Road behind Edwin Van der Sar, Mark Crossley and goalkeeping coach Dave Beasant and has joined Brighton on a month's loan. He should go straight onto the bench for Saturday's clash with Plymouth at Home Park.

Kuipers has lost his first-team place this season to former Middlesbrough keeper Roberts and Seagulls manager Steve Coppell (pictured) feels that the Dutchman needs to be playing regularly at the highest level he can.

The 29-year-old has an instant recall clause written into his contract at Hull, where he is teaming up with former boss Peter Taylor.

Coppell told the club's official website: "Peter Taylor phoned me this morning and asked whether he would be available.

"It's particularly frustrating for Michel because he's used to being first choice, but this season with the form of Ben Roberts it looks as though he's not going to get into the team in the short term.

"Maybe a change of scenery with someone he knows may bring the best out of him and I have said to him whatever happens, if we get an injury to Ben, then I'll recall him straight away."
