Gers move for Ostenstad
The Old Firm giants are keen to sign a striker and seemed to have turned their attentions to the former Southampton hit-man following the club's failure to land another Norwegian striker in Valencia's John Carew - who has signed for Roma.
Ostenstad's agent Rune Hauge has revealed talks are at an advanced stage with Scottish champions.
"It's correct. We have almost reached an agreement," Hauge told VG.
Should the move go through, Ostenstad will continue to live in Blackburn and commute to Glasgow for training with Alex McLeish's side, earning the same wage as he has been doing at Ewood Park.
The Scandinavian has fallen well down Graeme Souness's pecking order in the striking department at Blackburn and had turned down previous loan move to clubs in Division One.
Norwegian side Viking Stavanger were also keen on landing the 31-year-old but it looks like he may continue his career in Scotland with the Ibrox club.
Ostenstad will join up with former Blackburn Rovers and Norway team-mate Henning Berg at Rangers and would become the second Norwegian striker to be on the books at the club following Tore Andre Flo's spell at Ibrox that ended last summer.
