Seaman admits England end

DAVID SEAMAN has admitted that his England days are finally over and agrees that a younger custodian should take the reins.

The Manchester City shot-stopper has represented his country 75 times but has not been included in the last two squads picked by Sven Goran Eriksson.

After being lobbed by Ronaldinho during the World Cup last summer, many had said that his England days were over.

He returned in goal however, but has not played since the disappointing Euro 2004 qualifying draw against Macedonia.

The 39-year-old has now admitted that his England days are behind him, and the Arsenal legend believes he has played his last game for his country.

"I think that's gone now," Seaman told BBC radio. "It's something that I really enjoyed when I was there.

"I've not been involved in the last two squads so, in my heart, I know it's time for one of the young players to grab hold of the opportunity.

"If ever I'm needed I'll always be there but it's time for somebody else to have a go."

Seaman is still going strong in The Premiership however, and will welcome his old club Arsenal to the City of Manchester Stadium on Sunday.
