Willem bounce back

WILLEM II gave their season a huge boost on Friday with a 2-0 win over previously unbeaten Heerenveen.

Willem were like lambs to the slaughter last week when they were taught a lesson by PSV Eindhoven, but their confidence was not dented and they proved too good for Heerenveen.

Anouar Hadouir set Willem on their way with a goal on two minutes, with the second coming from Dmitri Shoukov shortly after the half-hour mark.

Vitesse Arnhem's season goes from bad to worse, with AZ Alkmaar the latest team to inflict defeat on Edward Sturing's pointless side.

A tight encounter was level for 40 minutes, but Michael Buskermolen gave AZ the lead shortly before the break.

Ricky Bochem levelled for Vitesse in the second-half, but Martijn Meerdink netted a late winner for AZ.
