Yoshi leaves Pompey

YOSHIKATSU KAWAGUCHI has ended his two-year stint with Portsmouth by signing for Danish side Nordjylland.

The Japanese international joined Pompey from Yokohama F-Marinos in October 2001, but his spell at the club started disappointingly and he failed to regain the form that made him one of the biggest stars on home soil.

Pompey strengthened their goalkeeping options over the summer with the captures of Harald Wapenaar and Pavel Srnicek, meaning Kawaguchi's days on Fratton Park were numbered.

The Farum-based club came forward with an eve of deadline bid and secured his services for an undisclosed sum.

Kawaguchi has signed a two-year deal and will hope to put his disappointing spell on the South Coast behind him.
