Morientes rejected offers for Monaco
Morientes joined Monaco on a season-long loan last week from Real Madrid and he is looking forward to getting his career back on track after a difficult last year in the Spanish capital.
The Spanish international saw his first-team chances limited at El Santiago Bernabeu last season and he is happy to get the chance of action at Monaco.
"I had a lot of proposals from England, Italy and Germany," Morientes told L'Equipe. "But I wanted to come to Monaco, maybe because there is less pressure than anywhere else. And I know the coach (Didier Deschamps), who speaks Spanish.
"I have already trained with the team on Wednesday and Thursday. I will soon be ready.
"For me, everything changed at Real Madrid with the arrival of Ronaldo. Since then I have been less used. My priority is to play soccer, so it was difficult to stay in Madrid."
Morientes also disclosed that he would be interested in making his move to the Principality permanent as he feels his time at Madrid is finished.
"If everything will go off smoothly, why not think about a prolongation," added Morientes.
"I have turned the Real page. I even wanted a definitive transfer to the Principality.
"I would like a four or five-year deal. But it is difficult, a transfer plus my wages, that is a lot of money."
