Injury blow for Bartram

GILLINGHAM have been dealt a blow with the news that keeper Vince Bartram suffered a broken wrist against Millwall on Saturday.

Bartram has had a bright start to the season and made a number of key saves during Saturday's win over The Lions, before succumbing to injury in the dying moments.

The keeper collided with his opposite number Tony Warner, who had gone forward for a corner in injury-time as Millwall went in search of an equaliser.

Gills boss Andy Hessenthaler confirmed after the game that the keeper had suffered a double fracture of the wrist.

He said: "It's a bitter blow for Vinnie because in truth I think that the save he made from Neil Harris won us the game.

"It was the turning point in the match and had they scored and gone 4-2 up I don't think we could have come back.

"I'm disappointed for Vince because he has come in and done well for us. He is a great character and I wish him a quick recovery."

Surgery has not been ruled out, which could leave the keeper on the sidelines for some time.
