Dani Bhoy?

CELTIC are understood to be in advanced talks with Portuguese international Dani about a move to Parkhead.

The Scottish giants are looking to bolster their squad for the rest of the season, something they have yet been unable to do.

They failed with a move for Emerson and missed the Champions League deadline to bring in new faces.

However, manager Martin O'Neill has seemingly not given up hope of bringing in a fresh pair of legs to his Bhoys squad.

The former Leicester chief is believed to have instructed a number of agents to come up with some free agents he could look at, as a top-flight club in Scotland and England can still sign out-of-contract players.

Two names to come up were Dani and Ivan de la Pena and O'Neill is believed to have shown an interest in both - although the former is the one who is of particular interest to the Celtic boss.

Dundee are believed to have failed with an audacious bid for the Portuguese international, who is available on a free after Atletico Madrid released him earlier this summer.

O'Neill is believed to have asked Harry Redknapp, who brought him over for a brief spell at West Ham earlier in his career, about the player and he is believed to have given him a glowing reference.

Talks are now believed to be ongoing between the two parties and sources in Portugal are suggesting a short-term deal could be signed in the next few days.

Dani is looking to kick-start his career after his time with Atletico hit the rocks, he played just eight times last season after playing more than 50 games in the previous two campaigns.

Before his move to Spain, Dani enjoyed spells with Ajax, Sporting Lisbon and his short loan spell at Upton Park during the 1995/96 season.
