Inzaghi awe at Vieri partnership

FILIPPO INZAGHI has revealed that he has been eagerly awaiting the chance to play alongside Christian Vieri for a long time, and that the 4-0 win over Wales was a fair indication of what they could do as a partnership.

'Superpippo' grabbed an impressive hat-trick in the victory over a Wales side that had inflicted an embarrassing defeat the last time the two sides had met.

Inzaghi, in obvious high spirits, admitted that it was a memorable night.

"It was an unforgettable evening because it is my first hat-trick for the national side," said Inzaghi.

"There were no negatives to the performance.

"Myself and Chrsitian Vieri have been waiting to play together and not only did we play well, but the partnership was there for all to see.

"The coach has been trying to get us in the same line-up for some time, but I lost the World Cup due to injury."
