Amoroso out for Dortmund

BORUSSIA DORTMUND'S unhappy start to the season continues with the news that star striker Marcio Amoroso will be out of action for eight weeks.

The temperamental Brazilian suffered a partial tear of his knee ligament during a training match on Thursday and will not be able to line up for BVB again until the start of November.

"It's a real body blow for us. Alongside (Christoph) Metzelder, (Torsten) Frings, Evanilson and (Guy) Demel, Marcio is our fifth long-term injury," commented sport director Michael Zorc.

Amoroso had started the season in great form, netting four Bundesliga goals in Dortmund's first four matches.

His injury will increase the pressure on the Schwarz-Gelben side ahead of Saturday's vital home game against Bundesliga table-toppers Werder Bremen.

After failing to reach the group stages of the Champions League, a further league defeat against Werder could see Dortmund's season fall apart before it has even got going.
