Mancini enjoys Samp return

LAZIO boss Roberto Mancini enjoyed a triumphant return to his old club Sampdoria with a 2-1 win at Stadio Ferraris.

Mancini was given a tremendous reception by the home fans as Sampdoria hosted its first Serie A game for four years.

Lazio got off to a flying start with Simone Inzaghi firing them ahead within nine minutes from close-range after Dejan Stankovic's knock down.

The home side missed a great chance to draw level soon after with Angelo Peruzzi saving Cristiano Doni's penalty after Giuseppe Favalli was adjudged to have pushed Fabio Bazzani in the box.

The visitors suffered a blow ahead of their Champions League clash with Besiktas with Sinisa Mihajlovic limping off just before half time.

Lazio doubled their lead on 63 minutes with Demetrio Albertini converting from the penalty spot after Bernardo Corradi was brought down inside the box by Maurizio Domizzi.

Sampdoria pulled a goal back ten minutes later with Bazzani heading home a fine goal, but Lazio held on for all three points to maintain their 100 percent start to the season.

Filippo Inzaghi's late goal earned Milan a hard-fought 2-1 win over Bologna at The Giuseppe Meazza.

Andrei Shevchenko fired Milan in front on ten minutes with a fine header from Andrea's Pirlo's cross, but Carlo Nervo stunned the home fans with a superb leveller from the edge of the box after 32 minutes.

Milan poured forward in the second half in search of a winner, but they were forced to wait until five minutes from time when Inzaghi wriggled free inside the box to slot home his fifth goal of the week to give the hosts all three points and continue their perfect start to the season.
