CELTA VIGO - STAR MAN - ALEXANDER MOSTOVOI

RUSSIAN midfielder Alexander Mostovoi is the creative force in Celta Vigo's midfield, and it is generally accepted that when he plays well Celta do as a team.

It was touch and go whether the much-travelled 35-year-old would stay with the Galicians this summer after a dispute over the length of his new contract.

However, ultimately the lure of Champions League football proved too strong, and the former Benfica playmaker signed on for a further season at the Balaidos.

Mostovoi has now been at Celta for seven seasons since joining from Strasbourg, and has been the mainstay of the club's midfield in that time.

Renowned also for his fiery temprament, he normally plays behind Celta's lone frontman but is an expert at timing his runs into the opposition's box for maximum effect and is also a dead-ball expert.

With his future now resolved, Mostovoi will hope to drive Celta to a respectable showing in their first Champions League campaign, and also notched as Celta saw off Slavia Prague 3-2 in the qualifying round.
