Pires hits back
ARSENAL winger Robert Pires has hit back at claims from Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp that he dived to win a penalty in Saturday's 1-1 draw between the two sides.
Although contact appeared minimal in Dejan Stefanovic's challenge on the Frenchman in the box, the former Marseille man went down resulting in Alan Wiley pointing to the spot.
Redknapp felt Pires needed no second invite to win the spot kick, as his side were a goal down following Teddy Sheringham's opener for the visitors.
However, the French international has stated he is no cheater as it is not part of his game.
"I did not dive and I am not a cheat," said Pires. "That is not the way I play.
"All I know is that there was contact with my foot and there was a noise. I think that is what the referee heard to give the penalty."
