Saviola backs Barca trident

JAVIER SAVIOLA has added his weight to the debate about Barcelona's new front three formation, insisting he, Patrick Kluivert and Ronaldinho can become a potent attacking force.

New Barca boss Frank Rijkaard has employed the offensive trident to some success in the opening rounds of the new Spanish season, with the Catalan outfit having made an unbeaten start with two wins and a draw from three games.

"We are three players who carry a great deal of danger, we always look to get into the opposition area but there are also other players on the team who can do this well," stated Saviola.

"We will certainly be a lot better when we have had a few more games."

The Argentine hit-man also denied that the arrival of Ronaldinho had lifted the attacking burden from his shoulders, insisting that at a club of the stature of Barca everyone was expected to perform to their peak at all times.

"The arrival of Ronaldinho does not release any pressure from me because at a club like Barca we are all being watched equally.

"This year we have more expectations, we are a group with more unity that knows what it wants.

"We have more desire and are on the path to good results.

"This Barcelona will try to win the league and the Uefa Cup because both we and the fans want a title after so much time without one."
