Salgado's future in Real's hands

EXCLUSIVE
MICHEL SALGADO'S agent has insisted that Real Madrid will have the final say on his client's future, after Chelsea showed an interest in luring the Spanish star to West London.

Salgado's current contract expires next summer and a number of clubs are reported to be monitoring his situation, but The Blues are said to be very keen on securing his signature.

Salgado's agent Gines Carvajal has now exclusively revealed to planetfootball.com that contacts have been made, but that the player is happy in Madrid and is looking to land a new long term deal at El Santiago Bernabeu.

"Michel Salgado is wanted by many clubs in Europe, and not just in England," Caravjal explained.

"Some contacts have existed, but at the moment we do hot have any concrete offers from Chelsea or any other team.

"Michel is very happy in Madrid, but in life you have to evaluate many things especially in a profession like football.

"I am waiting for a call from Florentino Perez [Real president] to know directly what Real are thinking about the player.

"At 28 he [Salgado] wants a good contract for four years and nothing else from the club who he would sign for, the final decision is with Madrid."

Much will now depend on the negotiations between Real and Caravjal, Salgado's suitors will no doubt maintain their interest and could make a move for the full back if nothing is agreed by January.

Salgado has expressed his desire to remain in the Spanish capital, but it remains to be seen whether Real will come up with the offer the former Celta Vigo star requires.
