Rosenborg plot Iversen move

ROSENBORG have revealed their desire to bring Wolves striker Steffen Iversen back to Norway.

Iversen quit his hometown club nearly seven years ago to join Tottenham in a £2.5 million deal but he has struggled with niggling injuries during the past couple of seasons.

In the summer, Iversen quit White Hart Lane to join Premiership new boys Wolves on a 12-month deal and he is currently the only Molineux player to have scored in the top flight.

But despite having a contract until next summer, Rosenborg are aiming to tempt the 26-year-old back to Trondheim during January's transfer window.

The Norwegian champions' director Rune Bratseth has confirmed the international forward is on their shopping list, although Rosenborg are not willing to break the bank to capture Iversen.

"A motivated Steffen Iversen is certainly a player that is interesting for us," revealed Bratseth.

"It would perhaps not be that stupid for him to return to us if he wants to get back on track. It's been a while since I have seen him look really good. You get the impression that he has mainly been injured.

"However, with the potential we know that he has got, it's certainly interesting.

"The question is whether Steffen wants to move and about how hungry and motivated he is. He earns a lot of money now but we are not willing to destroy our wage structure for him.

"He is a Trondheim lad and he is still not old. It could be a step for him to move to further his career."
