Dida plays down Ajax save

MILAN goalkeeper Dida has played down the sparkling save he made at the end of their Champions League victory over Ajax on Wednesday night.

The Brazilian shot-stopper pulled off a superb stop to deny Rafael van der Vaart at the death in the San Siro to ensure the Italians completed a 1-0 win over the Dutch side.

Dida played down the save and says that he has made better ones in his career but did enjoy a quality stop.

"I don't want to be considered a modest person, but I assure you that there are stops more complicated than this one," Dida told daily 'Gazzetta dello Sport'.

The save allowed Milan to kick-off their Champions League defence with a valuable victory, and Dida has not counted out the possibility of them retaining their European crown.

"Sometimes someone can't appreciate stops that are apparently easier. For example against Ajax I have done a really risky save that I made at the beginning of the match from Ibrahimovic's shot," he admitted.

Milan aim to repeat their Champions League triumph of last season and Dida knows it will be a difficult task, but at the same time he refused to rule out a repeat victory next May.

"Going better than last season will be difficult. I prepare myself for everything, for all our aims. Why should we put limits on ourselves."

Meanwhile, as Milan return to Serie A action, Brazilian defender Cafu has warned that they must forget the Ajax match and concentrate on their next opposition Perugia.

"It's a delicate match. Perugia haven't started positively this season and facing their supporters they will try to change this negative trend," warned Cafu on Milan's own TV channel.

"The Italian League is entering its heart, next week there will be the Champions League break and we must try everything to come back with a win from Perugia.

"Cosmi is a good coach and last season we learnt that Perugia, if they are in form, they can beat everyone."
