Watford sign Spurs defender

WATFORD have snapped up Tottenham youngster Stephen Kelly on a month's loan.

Director of football David Pleat, who has taken over as caretaker manager following the sacking of Glenn Hoddle this week, revealed at a press conference that the defender is heading for Vicarage Road.

The Hornets have moved for the 20-year-old Dubliner in a bid to bolster their squad after a difficult start to the campaign.

"He's gone to Watford for an initial month," said Pleat. "There should be about seven games in that month, so that will be very good for him."

Kelly has also had temporary spells with Southend United and Queens Park Rangers.
