Jara upbeat after comeback
The hosts dynamic start came to nothing after only 10 minutes when Oleg Venhlinsky was on target following a fast break to stun the AOL - Arena.
Hamburg subsequently struggled to find their rhythm during the first half, and it took a penalty by Nico-Jan Hoogma and a Bernardo Romeo strike to finally secure Jara's side a narrow victory.
"We showed absolutely nothing in the first half when my players enjoyed plenty of possession, but never got the ball in the box," declared the Hamburg boss.
"The second period was a different affair and the players finally worked hard and managed to earn many set-pieces which allowed us to come back into the match.
"I know that many people expected me to substitute Sergej Barbarez, but I needed him as fourth striker and once again he rewarded me by setting up the second goal in sensational fashion," Jara concluded.
Hamburg skipper Hoogma, who scored the equaliser with a penalty following a hand-ball four minutes after half-time, is convinced that his team will be able to qualify for the next round.
"Dnipro stood deep and defended well, but we'll take a lead to Ukraine and this time they'll be forced to run the game and this will suit us better," claimed the defender.
